Author Emma Christie didn’t just publish her first book, The Silent Daughter, during the pandemic. She also helped organize the Diary of a Debut Novelist online gathering and conference as a way to connect writers from around the globe. And, as you’ll see, all of this makes complete sense.
Buckle up for a fascinating conversation as Emma and Brad take a journey through medieval history, storytelling, world travel, and (shockingly) writing!
About Emma Christie
Emma Christie was born and raised in Cumnock, an Ayrshire coal-mining town. After studying literature and medieval history at Aberdeen University she spent five years working as a news reporter with one of the UK’s top-selling regional daily newspapers, The Press and Journal.
Memorable moments include interviewing Donald Trump and spending a day in prison. She’ll never forget the stories of the bereaved – brave folk who answered her door knock and let her in, notepad in hand. Throughout her journalism career, she secretly wanted to be every author she ever interviewed.
She now works as a tour director and lecturer in history, culture and politics with a US travel company, leading educational journeys across Spain, France and Portugal. She’s lived in Chile, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Bulgaria – but is now happily settled in Barcelona with her girlfriend, María Jose, and far too many plants
