Review: Beach Read, by Emily Henry

Beach ReadBeach Read by Emily Henry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an absolutely joyful and fun read. I’m not a huge romance reader (although I’m in awe of the genre and many of its writers), and I can say this book hooked me from right off the bat. All of the characters were fun, and I loved the little world that Emily Henry created for them to inhabit.

It’s a testament to the writing when you know how the story will end and still can’t put the book down. And my friends, I sat in my backyard and devoured this book in two sittings! (As an aside, when I posted that I was reading this book several friends told me to go ahead and buy the rest of her books so…that may be happening.)

The two main characters were charming without being trope-y, and I was genuinely interested in discovering their backstories. (This may have also landed because my father passed away recently, and the death of a dad is a major plot point driving part of the book.)
