About Kim Catanzarite
Kim Catanzarite is an accomplished writer whose debut novel, a thriller titled They Will Be Coming for Us, received a starred review from BlueInk Review. The book publishes June 1, 2021, and Kim has been blogging about the self-publishing experience on her website since October of last year.
Kim’s fiction and poetry have won prizes and appeared in literary magazines, such as The Evansville Review, Emry’s Journal, Sixfold. Most recently, her flash fiction won first prize in the Fish Publishing contest. Her current novel finished third in the Gateway to the Best competition. Two earlier novel manuscripts were shortlisted for the Faulkner Wisdom Competition, and Kim won the South Carolina short story contest twice.
She also has published articles in national magazines, such as Better Homes and Gardens and Woman’s Day, and various newspapers.
By day, Kim is a freelance editor with over thirty years’ experience in the editorial field. Her client list includes Writer’s Digest Books, Random House, Meredith Corporation, Ten Speed Press, as well as many indie authors. She has edited hundreds of titles in a vast variety of genres from writing craft to memoir to novels. In addition, she has been an instructor for Writer’s Digest University since 2015, where she teaches three copyediting courses.
Kim’s editing career began at a small newspaper in northern New Jersey, where she learned hands-on the process of editing, article writing, layout, and publishing. She also worked for two book-publishing companies—one of the big five in New York City and smaller publisher in New Jersey. After several years on the job, she decided to freelance.
An alumna of Skidmore College, Kim received her B.A. in English. She continued her education at the New York Summer Writers Institute and the Emerson College writing and publishing graduate program.
She lives in New Jersey with her husband and daughter.
