Author Scott Spencer has written thirteen books and received two National Book Award nominations. His novel Endless Love has sold more than two million copies, and it—along with Waking the Dead—have been adapted into movies. And, in 2004, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship.
But, he didn’t drop by the Jam Bunker to talk about ANY of that that. Instead, Scott and Brad took a deep dive into doing college wrong, the desire to hop trains, playing baseball, joining a socialists party, the importance of writing—and, of course, Scott’s latest novel, An Ocean Without a Storm, which is out now.

He has taught at Columbia University, the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Williams College, the University of Virginia, and at Eastern Correctional Facility as part of the Bard Prison Initiative. He lives in upstate New York.
